The last vestiges of sunset giving way to starscape, atop Kitt Peak in southern Arizona. Kitt Peak is home to one of the largest collections of observatories in the world, supporting scientists studying the deepest reaches of the known universe, peering millions of years backwards into time. They host a nightly visitor program, which is fantastic for kids, as well as astrophotography workshops for more advanced viewers. It's an incredible experience and I highly recommend it.
An optical observatory opens its doors and orients itself as the sun sets.
